The Weyburn Beavers will open their season at home on May 24th, when they host the Moose Jaw Miller Express. With the players set to arrive a few days ahead of the season opener, the team is still looking for some billets for the year.

“We still are about 10 spots short, so that’s fairly significant,” said team president Garnet Hansen.

The team has secured an apartment for the coaches for the team for the summer, but getting rentals for the players isn’t an option for the team. Hansen said they need host families and are hoping the community can step up.

“You can reach out either through the team email, or message on social media, but we certainly appreciate anything that people can provide for us,” Hansen added.

Billet families receive monetary compensation for hosting a player to help cover the food costs and other extras. Billet families also receive free entry to all Beavers home games, and some discounts are available at a number of businesses in the community.

Those who are interested in billeting a player this year can reach out to Brittany Sparwood, the team’s billet coordinator at (306) 897-8621, can fill out an online application on the team website, or can contact the team through social media.
