The City Curator is just about finished moving over the City of Weyburn's Permanent Art Collection to the new space at the Weyburn Credit Union Spark Centre.

"Currently I'm focusing on getting moved in," shared Regan Lanning. "I have about 20 pieces left to move, but the majority of the collection has been moved over and racked, and now I'm updating paperwork and that, as well as writing some grants and figuring out programming for the Spark Centre."

Lanning said she's excited about the features of the new gallery space.

"We have a beautiful hanging system that runs around the perimeter of the gallery. We also have a number of movable walls that have been constructed, so we are able to alter the layout of the gallery space and totally customize it, depending on which exhibition is currently playing, or if I have more than one exhibition."

The first exhbition in the new Weyburn gallery will be the 2022 James Weir Peoples Choice, for which artist applications are now open. Read more HERE.

Lanning said they're current looking for art instructors of the Spark Centre, and anyone interested can send her an email to weyburnartscouncil@weyburn.ca .

"Pottery classes are starting to line up, registration should be open for those pretty soon," she noted. "You can find more information about that in the new Spark Guide, which is on the City of Weyburn website."
