Santa Claus will be making an appearance here in Weyburn on Thursday, December 2nd, as the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce has him booked to attend the Parade of Lights.

"It's so exciting to have these events live and in person again, and to be out in the public," said Executive Director Larry Heggs.

"We're able to block off Main Street again, so we're going to block that off so people can come out and congregate with some distancing in between them and we have several businesses that are going to give way hot chocolate or coffee, and those kinds of things," he shared. "We've encouraged other local businesses to stay open along that strip, so make sure you're looking for shopping opportunities that day."

The parade begins at 7:00 p.m. at the exhibition grounds, taking the regular route through much of downtown, with a particular hot spot on Main Street (Third Street).

"You know we block it off from City Hall, right down to Railway Ave and we've got volunteers setting that up and looking after that for us, and then they block it off for us."

Heggs encourages businesses, individuals, and organizations to register online HERE. It's free and you don't have to be a Chamber member to join in on the fun.

Candy, he said, needs to be handed directly to people due to it being winter, and dark outside, and this is the usual custom at the winter parade.
