The U18 AAA Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings were at home for a pair of games on the weekend, with the Battlefords Sharks in town.

Saturday evening, the game didn’t quite go as planned. While Hailey Sibbald put in a strong performance in goal, turning aside 27 of the 31 shots she faced, the Gold Wings themselves weren’t able to beat Sharks netminder Emma Backman, and ultimately fell 4-0.

Sunday afternoon, the fans in attendance were treated to a goaltenders' duel that last not only the 60 minutes of regulation but also two five-minute overtime periods. At the end of the 70 minutes, Weyburn’s Lexi Peace had stopped all 50 shots directed her way, while Battlefords’ Taylor Enns stopped 33 shots at her end, and the teams went to a shootout tied 0-0.

With both goaltenders having added the shutout to their record, it would come down to the three shooters from each team to determine who would get the two points for the win.

Paisley Arntsen, Ashton Bender and Julianne Girardin were the shooters for the Gold Wings, and all three were unable to beat Enns. At the other end, Mykayla Pylypow would score for the Sharks, which gave the Battlefords the victory.

The Gold Wings will be right back in action Tuesday night, as they head to Wilcox to face the Notre Dame Hounds.
