With the anticipation of the snowstorm over the weekend, the Annual Griffin Ice Boogie was postponed. However, with the arrival of 20 centimetres of snow, the Ice Boogie is making an upgrade to the event. Now being held on March 9th the winter fun will also include a poker derby. 

Member of the Griffin Recreation Board, Randi Mauer shares more details, “We're thankful for the snow. So, the poker derby is also going to be held now. Registration is from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. We are going to have a route marked and three check stops to check in at and riders must be back at the rec centre by 5:30 p.m.” 

Mauer also shared the day will host multiple activities including a 50/50 with a guaranteed $400, a fishpond for the kids, a silent auction, and the big favourite among the kids, Chicken Poop Bingo.

Some silent auction items are already taking bids which include the chance to walk away with two Brier tickets. Bidding on the Brier tickets closes Thursday, March 7th at 7 p.m. To start bidding go over to the Griffin Recreation Centre Facebook page

The day will kick off with cocktails at 4 p.m. and for families with small children, the early bird supper will begin at 5 p.m. and will run through until 8 p.m.
