The U13 Weyburn Canadian Tire Gold Wings made this weekend a rough one for the Moose Jaw Mavericks. The day after the Mavericks lost 18-1 at home to the U13 Weyburn Youngfellow Gold Wings, the Mavericks then dropped a 19-0 decision to the Canadian Tire Gold Wings at the Tom Zandee Sports Arena.  

The Gold Wings were led by Peyton Birnie, who scored seven of the 19 goals. Samara Seghers had five goals herself, with Alexis Bauman scoring a hat trick as well. 

The Gold Wings opened the game with three goals in the first period, two from Birnie. Her first goal came at the 4:24 mark, assisted by Bauman. Then Seghers scored at the 8:43 mark, assisted by Birnie. The scoring in the period was rounded out by a goal from Birnie with 5:03 to play in the period, assisted by Forseth. 

In the second period, Forseth scored just 1:26 into the period. Then Birnie was assisted by Seghers for her third of the game. London Cote made it 6-0 Weyburn, assisted by Annie Button and Forseth, and then Seghers scored her second of the day.  

Bauman made it 8-0, assisted by Birnie, with 12:22 to play in the period. Bauman then added her second of the game, assisted by Avryelle Molnar and Seghers two minutes later. Button made it 10-0, assisted by Seghers and Lydia Bell, and Birnie capped off the period with a shorthanded goal with 5:14 left on the clock. 

The rapid scoring continued in the third period.  

Seghers scored just 27 seconds into the period assisted by Aunna Anderson. Birnie then added her fifth of the game unassisted, at the 3:45 mark. Bauman scored with 15:02 left on the clock, assisted by Bell. Button’s second of the game came 49 seconds after that, assisted by Birnie. The two then combined for a power play goal at the 7:42 mark to make it 16-0 Weyburn.  

Seghers scored her fourth of the game with 7:54 left on the clock, assisted by Bell and Molnar. Birnie would score her seventh of the game with 5:44 to play, and then Seghers scored a shorthanded goal with seven seconds remaining to make it 19-0 Weyburn.
