The Western Canadian Baseball League is looking to return after the 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic with a full schedule that will see each team play 56 games over the course of the summer.

The Weyburn Beavers will open the season on May 27th in Regina against the Red Sox and will play their home opener the following night when the Swift Current 57’s come to town. In June, the Beavers will have a six-game homestand, which will include the first time the expansion Sylvan Lake Gulls make their way to Tom Laing Park.

The Beavers will embark on their annual Alberta road swing on July 6th and will play Brooks, Okotoks and Lethbridge. This year, Edmonton, Sylvan Lake and Fort McMurray will travel to Weyburn to play.

This year the All-Star Game will move to Okotoks, where the top players in the Eastern Conference take on the top players in the Western Conference on July 24th.

One twist for scheduling this year will be the Edmonton Prospects. The team will be on the road for the entire 2021 season as they await the construction of a new stadium in Spruce Grove, where they will play in the 2022 season. This year, the Prospects will play games in a number of Edmonton-area communities. Those details have yet to be announced.

The regular season for the Beavers will wrap up on the road next year, where they will play the Medicine Hat Mavericks in a pair of games on August 5th and 6th.

The playoffs will begin on August 8th, and all of the series will be best-of-three, starting with the conference semi-finals. The conference finals will start on August 11th with the play to have the whole season wrapped up on August 17th at the latest.

While the schedule has been released, the league has noted there could be changes due to weather or other unforeseen issues. All of the teams in the league will also be complying with health and safety guidelines related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
