The Weyburn Comprehensive School Junior Boy Basketball team travelled to a tournament in Moosomin, held on February 16th and 17th.

They played Rocanville Friday night and won by a large margin. On Saturday morning they had a very tough physical challenge from Estevan but were able to pull out a 64-51 victory.

The final game was against the cross-town rivals, St. Michael School.

Coach Darren Johnson said, "This was the closest game the boys have had all year with the lead changing many times. St Mike's was up by one point and had the ball for a throw-in with six seconds left."

He noted that Jacob Gill, "stole the ball and made a layup that seemed to hang in the rim for several seconds before falling in", which put WCS up by one with one second left.

“I am so proud of how these boys handled themselves this weekend and never gave up. They were always positive on the bench and cheering each other on.”

This is the second year in a row the boys have won this tournament, the fourth tournament championship of the season, and keeps the boys undefeated at 14 and 0.

The next action for the boys is a tournament at St. Michael School tournament on March 1st and 2nd, with the season then ending with districts on March 6th.
