Local volunteers with a desire to give back to their community have founded the Weyburn Cornhole League, which meets every Monday and Thursday evening. The league's winter launch saw an exceptional response, with 54 teams eagerly joining in for the inaugural season. With such a positive outcome, the volunteers are now getting ready to host a tournament, organizer, Laurie Blacquier shares the exciting details.

“You enter as a single. We play a four-game round-robin, which puts you in a placement of best to worst. After the four games, the system will generate you with a partner. Our idea on this is to have no stacked teams coming in. Nobody's coming in and running away with the tournament. Everybody has a fair chance of winning something. It's just a great atmosphere. You play with different people; you get to meet new people. We've had two previous tournaments. The turnout was great. We just started advertising this last week and we're 3/4 full.”

Blacquier also shared that the league does not make any money from the tournament, 75% of the registration money will be returned as prize money, divided between the first, second, and third place teams with the remaining 25% paying for building rental.

The games will be held at the Rival Cage with the evening kicking off at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 22.

Registration fee is $20 per person, to reserve a spot email weyburncornholeleauge@gmail.com or call/text Laurie Blacquier at (303)861-0044.
