You might say the Fillmore Lions club has an ear for raising money.

This year, they have plenty of ears.

Ears of corn.

The club and local young people raised the corn this summer.

And Lions club member Sheldon Preston says today they are selling off their harvest at a corn boil and barbecue. "This summer we sent 6 or 7 kids off to Lions' camp that was in Saskatoon, last year they were in South Dakota," Preston told Discover Weyburn. "And kids that got to go to camp this have worked hard and tomorrow's (Saturday) the fund raiser."

Preston said the young people helped plant the corn, and tended to the garden until it was ready to harvest. "We planted the corn in the spring, and we have harvested the corn. We will be having a corn roast tomorrow in Fillmore beside the Fillmore Family Foods."

The corn boil and barbecue will run from 11:00 to 4:00 on Saturday.
