It's a labourious task but, The Weyburn Comprehensive School is up for the challenge.

WCS students are working hard on planning Weyburn's Relay For Life event slated for May.

"We want to motivate people to get involved in their community and help make a difference," said Landon Field, Grade 10 student and chairman of marketing for the relay.

The students are hoping to spread the word to build interest for the upcoming event.

Registration will open sometime in January and Field said they are hoping for teams of six to 12.

"It is a tremendous amount of work and we need tons and tons of volunteers," he said, adding that they are still in the preliminary planning stages and will make an official call for volunteers and teams in the new year.

Co-chairs of the WCS Relay for Life committee, Morgan King and Zoe Molder, recently attended the Canadian Student Leadership Conference held in Edmundston, NB, in September, where they gained valuable information from the national committee for Relay for Life.

"They're staying in contact with them and giving them lots of different things to do," added Field.

More details to come in the new year on the 2017 Relay For Life hosted by the WCS.
