Farmers can take part in workshops being held soon on the Saskatchewan Species at Risk Farm Program.

Program Co-ordinator Tracey Hansen says the workshops will give producers information about species at risk in the province and what they can do to help ensure these species survive and thrive in their habitat.

"Last summer and into the fall we had seven pilot workshops with approximately 43 producers attending these workshops so we were quite happy throughout the pilot stage and now we're just moving into the second stage of

the program which is offering mainstream workshops," Hansen said. " We're just starting this with the hope that the up take will be positive and get some interest out there."

At the workshops, Hansen says producers can complete a farm assessment and then an action plan, which can make them eligible for funding to help cover any costs.

Workshops have been scheduled for Swift Current on March 1st and McCord on the following day, with more planned throughout the province through the year.
