The month of March is Rural Women’s Month in Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Agriculture’s 2nd Annual Celebrating Rural Ranching Women’s Conference is taking place in Maple Creek.

Cynthia Beck comes from a mixed farming operation in the Milestone area and talked to the women about moving themselves up on the priority list.

She says it’s a very difficult thing to do because society has told us that’s selfish but it’s not:

"We run ourselves on empty all the time and I always say if you don't have a full battery well then you're not giving your all either so as much as we try and play Wonder Woman and swoop in and save everybody's day well if we don't have the energy to save ourselves well then we're not saving anybody else and we're not helping them either," Beck said.

The conference continues today with presentations focusing on a variety of issues from cow/calf cost of production to what’s happening in the cattle markets, financing, managing forages, a producer panel and more.
