In his fourth visit to Saskatchewan, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited a farm near Gray to talk about Agriculture.

Joining Prime Minister Trudeau was Federal Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay.

The visit to the Lewis Land Limited Farm was organized in partnership with the Saskatchewan Canola Development Commission and mainly focused on Canola production.

A key issue for the Federal Government has been Canola trade and the dockage issue with China.

Prime Minister Trudeau and MacAulay visited Todd Lewis from the Lewis Land Limited Farm at Gray.

"He wanted to come out to see an actual working farm and how canola is grown and put in the ground," Lewis said. "We had a sprayer out and the air drill were all hooked up ready for seeding, we even got one of the combines out of the shed and had him sit up in there too and explain some of that to him too. He was very engaged and very interested the production side of how a modern farm operates."

Prime Minister Trudeau said after the tour he was fascinated to learn about the innovative technology being used on the Lewis’ farm.

Jack Froese is President of the Canadian Canola Growers Association and talks about how important the visit was for the industry:

"It's really important to have these people out," Froese said. "These people are making decisions on our behalf, so we have to make sure they're informed. As you know our Prime Minister got involved in the trade dispute with China, with canola being the big issue. As you know we had to get the Prime Minister and the Priminster of China involved to settle a deal."

He notes Canola is now a $26.7 Billion dollar industry for Canada today.
