A man was injured during an assault incident last Tuesday in Weyburn, and was transported from the Weyburn General Hospital to Regina for further medical care after taking a severe blow to the eye area.

According to Deputy Chief Brent VanDeSype with the Weyburn Police Service, the two men knew each other, but it was not a consentual fight.

"They had a disagreement, for whatever reason, and one struck the other in the head with his fist, and the victim suffered a fairly significant injury," he explained.

VanDeSype said, "even if it was a consensual fight between two individuals, the injury can still occur and there could be charges pending an investigation."

The other male was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
