In July, Football Canada hosted the Under-16 Western Challenge in Kamloops. The four western provinces sent their top players to play in the tournament, which was ultimately won by Saskatchewan. Thursday, Football Canada named their tournament all-stars from the event.

Of the 40 players who were named to the all-star team, 15 were from Saskatchewan, the most of any province. Of those 15, one was from Weyburn: defensive lineman Evan Barsness. When not suiting up on the gridiron for Team Saskatchewan, Barsness also plays for the WCS Eagles.
