After a 16-game winning streak at the beginning of the season, the Weyburn Beavers are running into some tough times, as they have lost three games in a row. The latest was an 8-4 defeat at the hands of the Dawgs in Okotoks as the Beavers continue their annual Alberta road swing.

The game started out as a tight pitching battle, with neither team getting much of a chance to do anything with runners in scoring position. The deadlock would finally be broken in the fourth when the Dawgs scored three runs on three hits. Okotoks added to the lead in the fifth with another run on two more hits.

The Beavers would reply in the sixth inning, as Garrett Perez stole second base to get into scoring position, then advanced to third on a wild pitch. He was then brought home on a single from Justin Summers. Four batters later, Dominic Bravo would cash in Cory Wills with a single, making it a 4-2 game.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Beavers would change out pitchers, with Chase Stratton giving way to Caleb Link. Stratton finished the night off going 5 ⅓ innings, striking out four, and allowing six earned runs on seven hits.

Okotoks would score two more runs in the sixth, putting the Beavers in a deep hole as they trailed 6-2 heading into the seventh inning. Another run from the Dawgs in the seventh made it 7-2.

The Beavers would try to rally and get more runs across the plate in the eighth inning. They had bases loaded as Tyler Scott came to the plate, but were only able to score one run on a single.

Okotoks replied with another run in their half of the inning.

In the ninth, Jack Barrie would drive in Summers to make it 8-4, but the Beavers were unable to do anything more.

With the loss, the Beavers fall to 18-7 on the season and are tied with the Regina Red Sox for first in the Eastern Division. The Beavers will look to avoid the sweep at the hands of the Dawgs Wednesday night as they close out their three-game set. The Beavers will then continue their road swing in Lethbridge Thursday night.
