The Weyburn Police Association presented a local post-secondary student with a $500 bursary on the weekend.

Saturday, Constable Kalin Wiebe and Constable Philip Clark, the secretary and treasurer of the association respectively, presented Levi Krienke with the bursary. Krienke is enrolled at the University of Regina, where he will be majoring in Police Studies. He plans to pursue a career in policing when he is finished his degree.

The Weyburn Police Association made two bursaries available for students graduating from Weyburn Comprehensive School. One was to be awarded to a student enrolled in post-secondary studies in policing or criminal justice with an intent to pursue a career as a police officer.

The other bursary was to be awarded to a student enrolled in any emergency services major with a goal of pursuing a career in policing, fire, emergency medical services or an emergency response field.
