Saskatchewan's chief coroner says two young girls who died on a reserve east of Saskatoon were victims of hypothermia.

Kent Stewart says toxicology tests along with results from the microscopic examination of tissues are still pending.

Stewart also says he's waiting for the police investigation into the deaths to wrap up before deciding whether to call an inquest.

Police found the bodies of three-year-old Kaydance Pauchay and her one-year-old sister, Santana, outside their home on the Yellow Quill First Nation earlier this month.
