Due to the heavy rains, Weyburn’s sewer system is currently overwhelmed.

All residents are being asked to reduce their water consumption.

“We're all also asking all residents to check their sump pumps and ensure that they are pumping outside and not into the sewer system,” said Director of Engineering, Jennifer Wilkinson. “The utility staff is doing the best they can to help ease the situation.”

She added they are trying to ease the pressure on the lift stations.

It is unknown at this time when residents can return to normal water use.

As of 6:00 a.m. Weyburn has seen 74 mm of rain.
