Bi-weekly Refuse Collection begins next week here in Weyburn. This means the trucks will be out collecting garbage next week, but not the week after, and so on, until March.

"The main reasons is we see a very large decrease in and refuse during the kind of winter months here now, because of yard cleanup and a few things that just don't happen," explained Todd Bedore, Superintendent of Public Works with the City of Weyburn. "Also it's a good way to to push a little more to the recycle bins so we don't fill up our landfill. There's a lot of stuff that maybe you didn't think that can be recycled, that you can, and and it'll make a big difference."

He noted some may be in need of the garbage cart set out service offered by the City, of which they might not be aware.

"Our truck drivers will will go and grab your garbage and roll it out, empty it, then roll it back to your house," Bedore explained. "It's for people with physical limitations that cannot maybe do that.

"There is an application form, and we would assess to make sure you fit the criteria, and it's a service we gladly do, too, if you fit the criteria," he noted. "In order to sign up for the program, just call our Public Works office and they'll send you an application."

You can also find that application on the City of Weyburn's website HERE.
