An alleged weekend theft of firearms and RCMP-issued clothing and equipment is cause for concern for police in Regina.

The Regina Police Service issued an advisory early Monday evening after a reported break and enter that resulted in a pair of guns going missing along with a long list of RCMP-issued gear and some other items.

Police say sometime during the night of August 27-28 a suspect or suspects entered a detached garage in the 3300 block of Green Moos Lane in Regina.

The following items are included in what was reported stolen:

- A Cabela’s gun locker containing a Remington 12-gauge shotgun and a Remington SPS .308-calibre rifle;

- A duty bag containing RCMP Public Order equipment and clothing.  The stolen bag contained an RCMP rain poncho, RCMP coveralls, RCMP shoulder patches, two RCMP ballcaps (one with white lettering; one with blue lettering), RCMP inclement weather pants with yellow stripe, batons, a green gas mask, and a riot helmet.

- A mobile air conditioner, tools, and other items.

"The firearms are personal, legally-owned rifles, which were stored in a gun safe; however, in the hands of criminals, they now pose a potential threat to public safety," said the Regina Police Service in a release. "The combination of stolen firearms and RCMP-issued clothing adds particular urgency and concern to this matter."

The RCMP clothing is a public order uniform, not the standard duty uniform. The public order uniforms bear the RCMP shoulder patch or yellow stripe on the pants, which distinguishes them as RCMP apparel.

The homeowners reportedly discovered the break, enter, and theft around 10 a.m. Sunday when they saw the garage door - which faces an alley - was wide open.
