Most people plug their vehicles in when we experience freezing winter temperatures. However, some unlucky people in Weyburn had their cords stolen last week.

Weyburn Police Service received several reports of electrical cords being stolen from vehicles that were plugged in.

“The cost of the theft isn't great,” Deputy Police Chief Brent VanDeSype said. “But it’s certainly a nuisance, and it’s a theft just the same.”

VanDeSype has an idea as to why someone might steal something like this.

“We suspect that the culprit may be stealing it for the value of the copper, but the investigation is ongoing and we would like to catch the person responsible.”

The public is encouraged to be aware of these thefts and contact the police if they have any information that would help with the investigation.
