The new Beekeeping Bylaw was presented by the City administration to Weyburn City Council during last night's regular meeting in Council Chambers.

The bylaw includes details on what will be required of Weyburn residents if they do decide to keep bees on their property, such as having a license. The bylaw is in accordance with the province of Saskatchewan's beekeeping regulations. Feedback from the community was mainly positive, however some did have concerns about swarms.

Council also approved an update to the updated Property Maintenance and Nuisance Abatement Bylaw, and approved amendments to the Official Community Plan as pertains to the zoning on Fifth Avenue north future new Weyburn General Hospital.
