For the first time since March 27 when active cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan first climbed over 100, the total number of active cases has declined into double digits. The province announced on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 15, that 18 more people had recovered from COVID-19.

This number of recoveries, which is the second-highest in one single day in the province, coupled with just three new cases of the virus, means the active cases in Saskatchewan have dropped to 95. A total of 205 people have now recovered, meaning over two-thirds of the province's 304 cases have now recovered.

Currently, there are eight people in hospitals across the province receiving inpatient care.  No one is in intensive care. Of the 304 cases, the new numbers are 131 cases from travellers, which has not increased in the last two days, and 122 cases from community contacts, including mass gatherings. The other cases either have no known exposure or are under investigation.

The number of cases in the south region, in which Estevan sits, still sits at 15. There have been no new cases in the south since Sunday, April 5. To date, 12,670 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. Saskatchewan continues to have the second-highest rate of testing per capita among the provinces.
