The Canadian Wheat Board has released its preliminary crop forecast for this year

Seeded acres are up across the prairies but a cool and dry spring has lowered predicted volumes.

Director of Weather and Market Analysis, Bruce Burnett says there will be about 21 million tonnes in the wheat crop down about a million tonnes from the 5 year average.

Durham is above the 5 year average at about 4 point 8 million tonnes and 9 point 9 million tonnes in barley.

Burnett says yields look like they are down in Western Canada.
