If you choose to forget to clear the snow or frost from your windshield and windows before you drive a 4,000-lb vehicle, you might just end up getting a ticket. In fact, it happened to one Weyburn resident last Monday, when they were caught driving with their front and side windows frosted over. The Weyburn Police Service issued that drier a ticket for failing to have a clear view while driving.

Sergeant Shane St. John said there are other good reasons besides getting a ticket to avoid making this mistake.

"When people are moving in the mornings, that's when kids are walking to school, that's when all the vehicles are traveling, and if your view is obstructed, the chances of you having something much worse than a ticket for obstructed view can occur," he noted. "It's better just to clear it as much as possible."

He urged, it is always worth taking those few minutes to ensure the view is clear.

"You can get your vehicles started defrosting and then scrape them off, so you have a clear view," St. John said. "You'll know if you can see, or not, out your side windows, your back, and the front."

The ticket issued was $175.

"It could be a lot cheaper than getting in an accident," he commented, adding they could just as easily have charged the driver with Driving with Undue Care and Attention. "Because they are driving with undue care that way as well, besides being blocked visibly."
