The southern half of Saskatchewan is under a heat warning this weekend, as temperatures are expected to soar into the mid-to-high-30s.

The warnings from Environment and Climate Change Canada stretch from Prince Albert in the north and go down to the U.S. border. They also blanket the province from the border with Alberta in the west to the border with Manitoba in the east.

While temperatures are expected to start to cool for some of the northern areas on Monday, things will stay above 30° for the southern half of the province, with relief not expected until Wednesday. Then, temperatures are being forecast to dip to just below seasonal, with a chance of rain.

ECCC is advising extreme heat can affect everyone, with the risks greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, those with chronic illnesses and those working or exercising outdoors.
