The Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation has put together the perfect opportunity for friends and families to enjoy a relaxing day of curling before kids return to school in the new year. The fundraiser is a collaboration with the Weyburn Curling Club in benefit of the WDHF, and is scheduled for January 6th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

"It's not a super long event, but we'll be able to raise some money for the new hospital and everyone will get to spend some quality time together as we start the new year!"

Registration is now open for teams of four to sign up in the leisurely bonspiel, with a cost of $200 per team to play two games of four-end curling, including lunch and a children's activity. Although children aged 8 and under are required to wear their own helmets on the ice, the bonspiel is open to all ages and abilities with equipment such as brooms and slip-on sliders available for use at the curling club. Teams can register at the WDHF Website, Facebook Page, or by calling the WDHF office at (306) 842-2626.

Curling is not the only attraction for this event! Office Manager with the WDHF, Whitney Johnson, said there is enough to keep everyone entertained for the midday gathering.

"After the first games are finished, we'll have a pizza lunch. Then teams can carry on with their next games," said Johnson. "We'll have a kids craft station, a 50/50, and a raffle as well!"

With 6 sheets of ice at the curling club and games lasting only 4 ends, Johnson doesn't expect there to be a shortage of space for everyone to join in on the fun. However, it's always a good idea to sign up early for these events. The registration deadline is Friday, December 22nd.
