The Conservative Government will appeal a Federal Court ruling which overturned new Canadian Wheat Board Regulations.

Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz says western Canadian farmers voted in favour of it and they deserve the opportunity to market their own barley.

The new regulations would have allowed Western Canadian farmers to choose how they market their barley beginning August 1st.

Ritz says a significant majority of barley producers had been looking forward to making their own marketing decisions, pointing to the fact that nearly 30,000 barley farmers voted and 62 percent voted in favour of marketing choice in the barley plebiscite.
