It is official.

Weyburn is under a fire ban, announced Monday night at City Council. The ban takes effect at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, and will remain in place until further notice. A ban for the R.M. of Weyburn went into place at the same time.

“We’ve talked to our partners in the R.M.’s, they’ve already issued a fire ban,” explained Fire Chief Simon Almond. “We should have a total fire ban in all areas in our part of Saskatchewan.”

Other areas already under a fire ban include the R.M.’s of Cymri, Brock, Laurier, Griffin, and many more. The bans are in place until further notice.
