A Weyburn man was in Weyburn Provincial court today on charges of sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, and sex assault against a female youth from January of this year.

The Crown requested to proceed by indictment on all three charges. Indictable offences are serious charges under the Criminal Code and they can result in more serious jail time or financial penalties.

A publication ban under section 486(4) of the Criminal Code was put in place by the court.

A publication ban is a court order that prohibits the public or media from disseminating certain details of a public court proceeding, such as the identity of those involved, to protect the victim(s).

Discover Weyburn is not releasing the names of those involved due to the publication ban.

His next court appearance will be March 21st at 9:30 a.m. at the Weyburn Provincial courthouse.
