A suspicious vehicle, a chase, a trail in a forested area, and a whole lot of snow all factors in an incident that resulted in the arrest of four people in Big Island Cree Territory by the Pierceland RCMP Wednesday morning.

Officers had received a call about the suspicious vehicle around 9:50 a.m. The vehicle was located, and the officers tried to initiate a traffic stop, the RCMP said in a release. The vehicle didn’t stop, instead, heading down a trail in a nearby forested area. The vehicle then got stuck in deep snow.

The four occupants of the vehicle were arrested without incident. Police say in the subsequent search of the vehicle they located 41 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 50 grams of crack cocaine and 1.2 grams of what is suspected to be fentanyl.

The four suspects, 24-year-old Omar Csurdi, 33-year-old Hosanna Lachance, 26-year-old Tye Sandfly and 23-year-old Iesha Csurdi, all from Cold Lake, Alberta, are facing numerous charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime, and failing to stop their vehicle for a peace officer.

Omar Csurdi and Hosanna Lachance will appear in Meadow Lawk court on Monday and Sandfly and Iesha Csurdi in Pierceland court on February 15th.
