A tragic end to a search for a young boy in northeast Saskatchewan. 

Sunday morning, the RCMP issued a release that they had been notified of the discovery of the body of 5-year-old Frank Young Saturday evening in the river on Red Earth Cree Nation. The location was not far from where he had been last seen on April 19th.  

Police state that at this time, there is no indication of foul play, but further investigations will be undertaken. The Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service has been notified, and an autopsy is expected to take place.  

“This is not how anyone wanted the search for Frank to end. Our deepest condolences are with Frank’s family, loved ones, and community who have been greatly impacted by this tragedy,” said Sgt. Richard Tonge, commander of the Carrot River RCMP Detachment, in the release. “We would like to thank everyone within the community and beyond, who assisted in the search for Frank.” 

In a post on social media, Red Earth Cree Nation Chief Fabian Head stated a press conference will be held in the coming days, and he asked the public for their continued support during this time of grief.
