A free barbecue and open house will be held tomorrow afternoon from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the City of Weyburn's Public Works Yard, at 55 -16th Street northeast.

The event is a combined effort between the City's Public Works Department, Weyburn Fire Services and the Weyburn Police Service.

"The public works fleet will be on display as well as a lot of the Fire Department will have their trucks on display," shared Engineering Director Jennifer Wilkinson. "The Police Department is going to have a bit of their fleet out, as well."

She said three special guests will also be in attendance: Weyburn's three official dogs Jessi the fire dog, Oakley the police dog, and Beaumont, who works with Victims Services.

"This whole event is free to anyone in the public that would like to come out. You will be able to meet a lot of the staff that operates the equipment, as well as members of the Police Service and the Fire Department, and it's just a great event to get people out into the community, and show a little bit of what our departments do."

Wilkinson noted the timing allows people to grab the kids from school and head on down to the Fire Hall, or come by after work.

"There's a little bit of wiggle room in there for all the family."

She added the public will also be able to see many of the additional fleet vehicles in the new fleet storage building.
