The Weyburn Comprehensive School Junior Musical this year, 'Frozen Junior', will play at 7:00 p.m. on November 22nd, 23rd, and 24th at Cugnet Centre.

Band Teacher Brayden Jensen said the students have been rehearsing after school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays ever since the three days of auditions, which were held during the first week of school.

"We will be doing some rehearsing on the weekends as we lead up to it," explained Jensen. "We'll be adding in some extra extra practices and things, and it'll be important to get on the stage and practice with microphones and the lights and that sort of thing as well."

Elsa's magic, he said, will require some special effects, but he's got the help of some colleagues for the props and costumes, and sets.

"There will be lots of snow, and lots of really colourful costumes and sets that I think the audience will really enjoy and the kids are excited about," he shared.

"Yes, 'Let it Go' will definitely be in there, and our lead is Kiera Manke, she's got a gorgeous voice, so I'm excited to have her sing that. Even though it's a junior musical, all the popular music is still in there for kids to sing along with."

Jensen said everyone will get their chance to shine.

"It's kind of a neat way they do the junior musical, it allows some of the younger kids to be involved as well. So we actually get three Annas and three Elsas. They do young, middle end and then, the lead sort of thing," he noted. "It gives more people a chance to get some singing in and there are more opportunities for all of the kids."

Peyton Lokken will play Anna, Jacey Kot is playing Middle Anna, and Young Anna will be played by Izabelle Cugnet. Keira Mahnke is playing Elsa, Middle Elsa will be played by Rachel McGowan, and Young Elsa is being played by Pressley Barber.

He said the students are dedicated to the work involved to perfect their performances.

Tickets are available by contacting the WCS main office or at the door. Kids five and under are free, $5 for kids six to 12, and $15 for adults.
