The Weyburn Police Service is investigating a theft of fuel from a storage tank at a business early Friday morning.

"This theft of fuel is a little different than the gas drive off, as they've become known," shared Deputy Chief Brent VanDeSype. "This was actually at a business location where they had fuel stored in a tank, so the lock was cut and fuel was taken, sometime likely over the the evening hours."

He said it was taken sometime during the dark hours before the business opened on Friday.

However, there may be some hope for finding out who stole the gasoline.

"Many, many more businesses are getting surveillance by video by cameras setting up surveillance cameras," noted VanDeSype. "So we are hoping that someone either can give us the information, may have noticed the suspicious vehicle in middle of the night, or that one of the surrounding businesses may have gotten some surveillance on their cameras."
