The Canada Border Services Agency takes their task of protecting Canada’s borders very seriously. One aspect of their job is to ensure those who are not admissible to Canada get in. Sometimes, the decision is made on the fly, such as one instance last month at the Coronach crossing.

A Montana man was stopped by the CBSA, and arrested for suspicion of impaired driving. He was turned over the the RCMP. During the arrest, officers found a loaded handgun, which he had failed to declare, compounding his problems.

He was fined $1,000 for failing to declare the firearm, which was seized by the CBSA. He was also denied entry into Canada.
