it is becoming a common theme for weekends in southeast Saskatchewan - rain, and a lot of it.

Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a rainfall warning for the region this afternoon. Heavy rain is expected to fall throughout the region, with upwards of 50 millimetres expected in many areas. There could even be some spots that see higher amounts due to localized heavy downpours.

The warning cautioned that heavy downpours could cause flash floods as well as water pooling on road surfaces. Low lying areas could also see localized flooding.

The system could also be accompanied by thunderstorms as it moves through the region, with ECCC cautioning hail, wind and lightning could be a possibility as well.
