Saturday saw the provincial government report the highest single-day number of deaths linked to the COVID-19 pandemic in Saskatchewan. It was reported 11 people who had tested positive for COVID-19 passed away. 

Eight of those who passed away were over the age of 80 – four in Regina, three in Saskatoon, and one in the South East zone. There was one death reported in the South East of a person between 70-79, while one person in the 60-69 age passed away in the North East, and someone in the 50-59 age group passed away in Saskatoon.  

The news came as there were 274 new cases reported. There have now been 11,749 cases of COVID-19 reported in Saskatchewan since March, with 4,097 of those reported as being active. The seven-day average of daily new cases is 292, or 24.1 new cases per 100,000 people. 

There are currently 118 people in hospital across Saskatchewan receiving treatment for COVID-19. There are 95 people receiving in-patient treatment and 23 in intensive care.
