As the current blizzard continues to make it's way through southeast Saskatchewan, it is leaving a number of road closures in it's wake.

Snow has fallen for most of the day. That, combined with winterly winds, has created a number of snow drifts on both highways and City streets.

Earlier today we shared reports of a semi that was stuck on Government Road and numerous posts have been made on social media regarding residents getting stuck on the drifts, with most people sharing thanks for help getting out and home.

This afternoon, highways in the Southeast began closing. As of 7:30 this evening, highways from Estevan all the way to the Manitoba border are showing as closed.

Directly through Weyburn, highways were showing as travel not recommended as of 7:30. With more snow on the way, however, conditions are expected to get worse overnight.

Environment Canada and Saskatchewan RCMP have been advising people not to travel for the past few days and Weyburn Police continued those sentiments this evening.

"With the stormy conditions and deep snow, please stay indoors unless absolutely necessary," they said on social media. "As we saw earlier this winter, it's easy to get stuck and getting out is complicated by the bad weather. Please stay in and stay safe."

Conditions will be changing fast this evening. Let us know what is happening in your area. Share pictures and updates on the DiscoverWeyburn Facebook or send us an email at news@discoverweyburn.com.
