From Highway 39 right up to the front gate, the road to Nickle Lake Regional Park was paved this summer using reclaimed material from the Highway 39 passing lanes project.

Norm McFadden, Reeve of the R.M. of Weyburn, said they had a lot of help.

"If it wasn't for companies like Coco Paving, who did the the passing lanes on 39 Highway between Weyburn and Estevan, and the Ministry of Highways, who dealt with with the seal job with a local contractor, NT excavating, helping out with hauling some of the reclaimed material out there," he explained. "So if it wasn't for those guys, this would not have happened."

The material used is what the Ministry of Highways calls TMS road.

"It's pretty much the same type of road as on 35 Highway heading north of Weyburn, that's also a TMS road, so some people get confused with without being asphalt, but it's it's a gravel oil mixture," he noted.

He said the second seal should be going on in May of 2022.

"For that process it'll take a day and then it'll be a little dusty for you know, maybe three or four days," he added. "Then they'll sweep off the loose gravel and then we're back to a dust free road again."
