A friendly reminder. The Weyburn City Police is spreading the message today about the bylaw in place for school busses that have their Stop arms out and flashing lights on.

Today is the first day of school for students all over the city and Police Chief Howard Georgeson says, "the school year is in and children are clearly on the move. We have some new students attending our wonderful schools too so, just a reminder to all motorists to slow down, keep your eyes and your ears open. Watch out for these youngsters and let's keep them safe."

If you are caught passing a School Bus when the Stop arm is out and the lights are flashing, Georgeson says there will be a ticket issued. You can be fined up to $350 for this offence according to Georgeson.

"We are going to enforce it, we make every attempt. I have personally met with both School Divisions and we want to make a conscious effort. We know of some 'hot spots' around our city where it's more paramount than other parts and we are going to make a conscious effort to be there as much as we can to keep our kids safe."
