A Weyburn family lost their home to a fire over the weekend.

Fire Chief Trent Lee with Weyburn Fire Services told Discover Weyburn that their crews were dispatched at 3:25 a.m. on Saturday night to a Structure Fire on the 200 block of Onstad Crescent, in the east end of Weyburn.

"First arriving apparatus reported heavy smoke and flames showing through the roof at the rear of the single-family dwelling. Reports from Weyburn police on the scene were that all occupants and pets were safely evacuated from the house."

Lee said one engine, a ladder truck, a rescue truck, a tanker truck, a command vehicle, and a utility vehicle attended the scene.

"Fighting against a bitter wind chill crews safely suppressed and contained the fire to the main floor and roof area. No reports of injuries and no additional exposures were damaged," he added.

While the cause of the fire and its origin are still under investigation, the initial damage estimate is $400,000.
