A man has been arrested and charged following an assault last week, according to the Weyburn Police Service.

Weyburn Police received a report regarding a woman that had been recently assaulted by her domestic partner. The investigation revealed the victim had been assaulted more than once in the past week and sustained injuries from the incidents.

“There was some choking that was involved during the assault,” Deputy Police Chief Brent VanDeSype said. “Then when the officers dealt with the individual there, he resisted the arrest. He assaulted a police officer, so he was also facing those charges.”

The man was charged with multiple offences including assault causing bodily harm, suffocating/choking during the assault, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer, and two breaches of his probation order.

He was remanded in custody for an upcoming court appearance.
