As Russia's invasion of Ukraine nears the two-week mark, Saskatchewan residents have an opportunity help displaced families.

People with room to house Ukrainian refugees can contact the Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Regina Branch at 306-757-8835.

“We don't know how long this could go on, but people need to look to help family friends,” Weyburn Mayor Marcel Roy said. “There are lots of people within our communities. Saskatchewan has a very heavily based Ukrainian heritage population and we should look towards being able to extend our homes and open up our homes to help people in their time of need.”

“This is kind of like a new program that came out,” Roy said. “So, people are just trying to hunt down and look to how to get in touch with this program.”

He added that as more information comes out, he will pass it on.
