It was a rough weekend on home ice for the Midget AAA Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings. They played host to the Saskatoon Stars for a pair of games and weren’t able to muster a win on the weekend.

The game Saturday afternoon saw the Stars coming out firing, putting 60 shots on goal towards Amara Lewendon. She would have 14 get past her, as the Stars won 14-1. The lone goal for Weyburn was scored by Kira Barham, her first with the Gold Wings in six games this season.

Sunday afternoon was a different story, as the Gold Wings were tied against the Stars 2-2 heading into the latter stages of the second period, bouncing back after the loss the day before. Ultimately, though, the Stars were able to find the net twice in the final frame to pick up the 4-2 win. The Gold Wings had goals from Madison Lafoy and Mahteya Dumalie. Daneka Dickson stopped 39 of 43 shots in the loss.

The next game for the Gold Wings will Friday. They play host to the Melville Prairie Fire at Crescent Point Place.
