A busy night Wednesday for Weyburn hockey. Three of the area’s AA squads were in action, with two on the road and one at home.  

The U18 AA Aaron Well Servicing Gold Wings were in Regina for a match-up against the Regina Rebels. The Gold Wings would take the lead in the first period, when Katelyn Thackeray scored an unassisted goal with 3:08 left in the period.  

Penalties, however, would plague the Gold Wings, especially in the third period, when Regina scored two power-play goals en route to a 3-1 come from behind victory.  

The Gold Wings are back in action next Tuesday when they host the Rebels in Midale.

The U18 AA John Hulbert Construction Wings took to the road Wednesday night, travelling to Wilcox for a game against the Notre Dame Hounds at the Duncan McNeil Arena. Weyburn would jump out to a 4-1 lead, then held on for a 4-3 victory over the Hounds.  

Weyburn had goals from Morgan LaCoste, Jack Bobier, Silas Stein and Noah Kopec. Kopec finished the game with two points, as he also added an assist on the goal by Stein.  

Adam Charlton made 24 saves to earn the win between the pipes.  

The next game for the U18 AA Wings is February 10th, when they travel to take on Prairie Storm.

The U15 AA Annugas Wings were on home ice Wednesday, taking on the Estevan Bruins. Weyburn found themselves down after the opening period, but then came roaring back, skating to a 5-4 victory.  

Kaleb Sheasby had two goals for the Wings, with Andrew Hemphill, Evan Aasland-Guest and Rhett Weichel also scoring in the victory. Aasland-Guest finished the night with three points as he added on two assists, while Aidan Mohan had three helpers on the night. 

Nick Forsyth stopped 42 shots for the Wings to secure the victory.  

The U15 AA Wings are back on home ice Sunday when they host the Regina Pat Blues.
