The 2023 Mixed Doubles Provincials are underway at the Weyburn Curling Rink. Twenty-four teams are in the Opportunity City for the event, with the winner advancing to represent Saskatchewan at the national championships later this month.  

After the first full day of curling Thursday, the Hersikon/Laycock rink sits atop Pool A with a record of 2-0, while the Kalthoff/Thevenot rink and the Todd/Cherpin rink are tied for 1st in Pool B with a record of 2-0. In Pool C, the Springer’s, Kish/Tessier and Barber/Heidt teams won their first games of the event, and in Pool D the Kleiter’s, Just/Grindhelm rink and Hoag/Gordon rinks won their first games.  

The action resumed Friday morning at 9:00 a.m., with six games among the teams from Pools C & D. There is another draw at 1:30 p.m. for teams from Pools C & D. The late afternoon draw starts at 4:30 p.m., and the late draw Friday is at 7:30 p.m. 

Spectators are welcome at the Weyburn Curling Rink for the event, with a cost of $5 for the day, or an event pass for $15. The round-robin wraps up with Draw 10 at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, with the playoffs starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The champions will be crowned Sunday afternoon.
