The Weyburn Therapeutic Animal Park has all their animals, they've named their pony, and they're also requesting people bring appropriate snacks. Read more HERE.

Board president Jodi Larson said the communication from the public this year has had its advantages.

"We've noticed that the community has been extremely respectful and helpful in letting us know that there's things at the park that are going well, and then just the appreciation for how it's being kept, and then also the community is also very active in letting volunteer members and board members know if something at the park needs to be addressed."

She added, "that's great because the whole point is the community all working together", saying they're lucky to have the kind of park where community members can go anytime.

"We're able to have community members have their eyes on that park, basically all day, every day, so our animals get constant checking on, and constant observation, and we know that really helps when there's things that do need to be attended to. Because we do know that things do come up when you're dealing with animals."

Larson said they're also grateful for the increased visitation numbers at the park.

She noted they are planning a season-end wrap-up event.

"We'll hopefully have some vendors and some activities out there for the kids, as a way to kind of wind down a really great year, that we've had of people coming to see the animals," she shared. "We're looking at firming up a date towards likely the beginning to middle of September when the animals will start to go back to their homes for the winter."
